Blog Reflection

I was taken by surprise when professor Dr. Cynthia Pittmann described in detail the nature of this activity because, throughout my academic life, I had never encountered a course whose curriculum allowed students to create their own, personalized blog. Although skeptical about how my limited acquaintance with Blogger.com would unfold into something other than failure, I felt intrigued by the possibility of engaging with my classmates in a broader platform, one that would also enhance my editing and computer skills.
Familiarizing with the site was more frustrating than I had anticipated, because the format of the blog and the overall presentation of each post failed to meet my demanding expectations. However, putting aside my awful blogging skills, I enjoyed the activity because the blog provided a creative medium to bring life to a piece of writing. The images, links, and videos are all collaborating to enhance the quality of my work by making it more relatable, approachable, and intertwined with other topics.
The accessibility, as well as the versatility, of a blogpost is what I found intriguing of this class activity. I had the freedom to select the details and the unique angle I wanted my posts to have; nonetheless, the blog does provide a potential platform for discussion. With a simple link, we can access the work of our classmates, leave comments that can serve as constructive criticism, and collaboratively contribute to the improvement of our writing and communication skills.

In conclusion, I advocate for the integration of class activities such as the blog because it requires students to explore their creative potential. Although formalities are still expected, the blog serves as a unique escapade from all the demanding guidelines of a written assignment. Furthermore, I believe this exercise bestowed a meaningful and well-rounded character to my work by making each piece more accessible and integrated with the real world. The blog exemplifies how English courses can be modernized, and still providing effective mediums to enhance the writing skills of students.
